## [Baichuan3-Turbo](https://ailoot.ai/models/en/baichuan3-turbo/)

Baichuan3-Turbo is a text-conversation model with a documented 32K context. Its producer interface supports completed or streamed answers, JSON output and custom function calls, with separate knowledge-retrieval and web-search options for grounded responses.

About the model

This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.

#### The named 32K conversation model

Baichuan3-Turbo is a general text-conversation model in Baichuan’s third-generation lineup. The maker lists a 32K context for this exact name. Baichuan3-Turbo-128k is a separate entry with a larger context, and the fourth-generation models are separately named editions. Keep the selected model and its context profile explicit when preparing a conversation or comparing results.

#### Prepare messages in conversation order

The producer’s general-conversation reference supplies a model name and a list of messages. Put earlier turns before later ones. A system message, when used, comes first and defines the role or response requirements; user messages supply the task, and assistant messages preserve prior answers. Text content can be a string or a typed text-content structure.

For a document task, identify the passage and the result wanted. An example is: “Extract the stated deadline, owner and deliverable from this project note, and return a field list with the supporting wording.” For a rewrite, provide the original text, audience and tone. Preserve the relevant earlier turn when the next request depends on a previous interpretation.

#### Control the answer and its length

The documented conversation operation accepts a maximum response allowance from 1 to 2,048 tokens, with 2,048 as its default. This response setting is distinct from the model’s 32K context. Leave room for the answer when choosing the input, and inspect the completion reason before treating the result as finished.

The maker’s sampling controls are temperature from 0 to 1, default 0.3; top\_p from 0 up to but excluding 1, default 0.85; and top\_k from 0 to 20, default 5. A top\_k of 0 disables that selection strategy. These are producer-interface settings. For a comparison, keep the task and source fixed while changing the setting relevant to the result you want to inspect.

#### Produce JSON deliberately

Baichuan3-Turbo is explicitly listed among the models supporting JSON-object output. The producer’s JSON mode also requires an instruction in the system or user message to generate JSON. Specify the fields and their meaning, and explain how an unknown value should be represented. Check the returned object against those requirements before passing it to another step.

For the project-note example, request deadline, owner and deliverable fields with evidence text. A response stopped because of its length allowance may contain incomplete JSON. Preserve the source and completion reason, then adjust the task or response allowance before treating a partial object as a valid record.

#### Retrieve evidence or request a function

The general-conversation workflow offers knowledge-base retrieval, web search and custom functions. Knowledge-base retrieval can be constrained to the supplied knowledge alone; in that mode, the maker specifies that no retrieved result means no answer. If retrieval and web search are configured together, retrieval takes precedence. The reference also cautions against combining function calls with those retrieval or search tools in the same task.

For a knowledge question, provide the relevant collection and ask a focused question. For a current-information question, retain the actual search evidence with the answer. Keep evidence supplied by a tool separate from a conclusion generated from that evidence.

Baichuan3-Turbo is expressly included in the function-support list. A function definition supplies its name, description and argument schema. The model can select an operation and generate arguments; the connected application performs it and returns the result as a tool message tied to the call. Preserve that relationship in the next turn. The producer’s function-selection choices are automatic selection or no tool calling.

#### Keep the completed text or object

The documented interface supports a completed response or a stream of text increments; non-streaming is the default. Assemble streamed pieces into the final answer. The result identifies whether generation stopped normally, reached a length limit, selected a tool or encountered content filtering.

Use the finished artifact for its intended task: a concise answer, revised wording, extracted record or explanation grounded in returned evidence. Review the source-dependent values and the selected edition together. A larger-context sibling, a different Baichuan generation and a function result produced by an application remain separate parts of the workflow.

### Extract a project handoff

Technical example in English

```
Extract a project handoff
Extract a handoff from this note: Maya will send the revised pricing sheet to Operations by 16:00 Thursday. Leon will review it after receipt; no review deadline has been agreed. Return the owner, deliverable and deadline for each action, with supporting words. Mark missing deadlines as unspecified.
```

#### Expected result

```
Two action records containing owner, deliverable, deadline and a short supporting quotation.
```

#### Check the result

```
Check that Thursday 16:00 belongs to Maya’s delivery and is not assigned to Leon’s review.
```

##### Keep all completed results

Keep every complete returned response, file and content part.

Keep all content blocks, thinking signatures and actual tool-use IDs. Assemble all SSE block deltas; a first text block is not the complete output.

##### If the original response needs checking

Keep request/response IDs and headers. No generic text job retrieval URL is supplied.
