## [Baichuan4](https://ailoot.ai/models/en/baichuan4/)

Baichuan4 is the named fourth-generation text-conversation model with a documented 32K context. Its producer workflow supports JSON-object answers, completed or streamed text, custom functions and evidence from knowledge-base retrieval or web search.

- [**Ailoot Ultra · Anthropic Messages** `POST /v1/messages` `Baichuan4`](https://ailoot.ai/models/en/baichuan4/#method-1)

About the model

This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.

#### Baichuan4 as a distinct conversation edition

Baichuan4 is the named fourth-generation general-conversation model in Baichuan’s lineup. The manufacturer documents a 32K context for this exact edition. Baichuan4-Turbo and Baichuan4-Air are separate editions with their own model profiles.

The model works with a text conversation and produces an assistant response or a function-call request in the maker’s documented workflow. Useful tasks include answering from supplied information, organizing a document’s contents, revising text and producing a structured record for an application.

#### Supply a complete dialogue request

Prepare messages in chronological order, with a system instruction first when one is needed. Keep the user’s task distinct from earlier assistant answers and external tool results. The producer reference accepts ordinary text strings or typed text-content structures, and uses a separate tool-message role for results of function calls.

For a comparison, supply both passages, label them clearly and ask for agreements, conflicts and supporting wording. For a revised explanation, specify the audience and the details that must survive the rewrite. A useful instruction is: “Compare these two project descriptions, list the changed requirements, and identify the passage that establishes each change.”

#### Choose output form and response allowance

Baichuan4 is explicitly included in the producer’s JSON-object mode. Enabling that mode also requires a system or user instruction to produce JSON. Define the required fields and how missing information should appear. Parse and inspect the result before using it as an application record.

The producer’s conversation operation accepts max\_tokens from 1 to 2,048, default 2,048. Its sampling settings are temperature from 0 to 1, default 0.3; top\_p from 0 up to but excluding 1, default 0.85; and top\_k from 0 to 20, default 5. Setting top\_k to 0 turns off that strategy. The response allowance is different from the 32K context: prepare source material and room for the answer together.

If the completion reason is length, a written answer or JSON object may be incomplete. Preserve the partial result and the reason it stopped, then decide whether to shorten the requested artifact, reduce the input or revise the applicable response allowance.

#### Ground an answer in retrieved information

The maker’s tools distinguish knowledge-base retrieval from web search. A knowledge-base request names the relevant collections. Its knowledge-base-only answer mode prevents an answer when retrieval finds no result. If web search and knowledge retrieval are both configured, the reference specifies that retrieval takes precedence.

For a changing fact, retain the actual retrieved or searched information so the final answer can be checked against it. Keep the source, date and relevant qualification with the observation. When the task concerns a supplied collection, ask a focused question instead of combining the retrieval question with unrelated creative instructions.

#### Continue from a real function result

Baichuan4’s documented examples show selection among custom functions and continuation after the application returns a function’s result. Define each function with a name, purpose and argument schema. Preserve the assistant’s call and the matching tool result, then ask the next response to explain or use that observation.

A practical comparison can request two actual readings, such as values for two different dates, and ask for the difference between them. The application provides those readings; the model’s selected function and generated arguments are a request for that operation. The producer’s automatic or no-tool selection setting applies to functions. The reference advises keeping function calls separate from web-search or retrieval configurations.

#### Collect and inspect the final artifact

Non-streaming is the default producer mode; streaming returns incremental response pieces that must be assembled. The completion reason distinguishes a normal stop, a tool request, an output or context-length limit and content filtering. Keep the finished message or object with the source material and tool observations needed to interpret it.

Review the result for the requested fields, supported comparisons and wording appropriate to its destination. Keep the exact Baichuan4 identity with the task when comparing another edition. The useful outcome is a completed text artifact or an explanation of an actual tool observation, with any unresolved part of the request still identifiable.

Practical task

### A requirements change record

Technical example in English

```
A requirements change record
Compare these project notes. Version A: customers receive receipts by email; export contains all orders; support replies within two working days. Version B: receipts appear in the account; export includes paid orders only; support target remains two working days. List changes and unchanged requirements, quoting the wording that supports each finding.
```

#### Expected result

```
A comparison table containing requirement, previous wording, revised wording and change status.
```

#### Check the result

```
The support target is recorded as unchanged, and the export filter change is distinguished from receipt delivery.
```
