## [Gemini 3.8 Flash Tiered](https://ailoot.ai/models/en/gemini-3-8-flash-tiered/)

A multimodal Google model for sustained software engineering, autonomous agents and complex knowledge work.

- [**Ailoot · Gemini generateContent** `POST /v1beta/models/{model}:generateContent` `gemini-3.8-flash-tiered`](https://ailoot.ai/models/en/gemini-3-8-flash-tiered/#method-1)

About the model

This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.

Gemini 3.8 Flash is intended for long software engineering tasks, agentic workflows and complex knowledge work. Google describes it as a development of Gemini 3.7 Flash, emphasizing processes in which a solution does not end with one answer: the model revisits material, uses tools and continues a sequence of steps.

#### Material that can be analyzed

Google specifies **text, image, video, audio and PDF** inputs. In Ailoot API's current catalogue, text methods declare **text and images** as input and text as output. Video, audio and PDF are not included in this input set. The input limit is **1,048,576 tokens**, and output **65,536 tokens**. It produces text results, including code and structured data. Image and audio creation are not capabilities of this particular version.

#### Reasoning and tools

Thinking levels of **`low`, `medium` and `high`** are supported. In Google's described base-model mode, the default level is `medium`. These values describe Google's base model; the mode and availability of control through Ailoot API depend on the selected method and model variant. `minimal` is not supported and causes an error. Configurable effort helps select a mode suited to a stage's complexity, although at high effort the model sometimes uses more tokens to complete a task.

Capabilities include function calling, code execution, structured responses and context caching. File search, search grounding, Google Maps and reading URL contents are available. Batch processing is supported. Computer interface control has preview status; it does not turn every way of accessing the model into full-featured computer control.

#### Purpose and limitations

The manufacturer highlights software engineering, agent tasks and complex information workflows. Long context allows extensive material to be supplied, and tool capabilities allow several connected stages to be organized. These characteristics describe the model's capabilities; specific options and input data depend on the supported calling method.

The version was published as stable in September 2026. Its declared knowledge cutoff is March 2026, but information in some areas may remain at January 2025 levels. Fabricated facts, delays and timeouts are possible. More reasoning does not rule out errors, and a low effort level does not promise a particular response time.

Practical task

### Refactor a shared discount rule

Technical example in English

```
Refactor a shared discount rule
Three modules compute a discount independently. Cart uses subtotal >= 100; checkout uses subtotal > 100; invoice uses subtotal >= 100. The approved rule is 10% off at or above 100, with no stacking. Propose a shared implementation and rollout order, then specify tests for 99.99, 100 and repeated application. Preserve invoice history.
```

#### Expected result

```
A refactoring proposal with one shared rule, per-module integration steps and boundary/idempotency test cases.
```

#### Check the result

```
Check that exactly 100 qualifies, the discount is applied once and historical invoices are not recalculated.
```
