About the model

This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.

GPT-5.6 Luna is OpenAI’s high-volume member of the GPT-5.6 family. It is suited to repeated, focused tasks such as chat responses, classification, extraction and lightweight agent steps. Text and images can support a text answer. A useful Luna workflow has a clear input, a defined result and a short set of conditions for deciding whether the result is usable.

#### Repeated tasks with a consistent brief

For classification, describe the categories and give examples that clarify their boundaries. For extraction, name the fields to return and say how absent information should appear. For a support response, supply the customer’s request, the relevant product information and the action already taken. Keep the instructions stable across comparable items while changing the evidence for each item.

A visual task can provide a readable screenshot or photograph and identify the detail that matters. Ask for the visible information needed next, such as a label, interface message or difference between two supplied images. The answer remains text derived from those inputs. Keep image or document labels with the result so an extracted fact can be traced to the right source.

#### Reasoning and output shape

OpenAI documents reasoning effort choices of none, low, medium, high, xhigh and max, with medium as the default. Match the requested depth to the task and its evidence. A routine classification may need a compact result, while an ambiguous case can require a clearer account of which facts support the decision. Define the final answer separately from the amount of analysis needed to reach it.

The model supports structured outputs and function calling. For a structured record, specify the required fields and types, then check the returned content against the source. In a tool-enabled workflow, a function call proposes an action for the application; the application supplies the actual result before a later step uses it. This keeps an intended action separate from evidence that it occurred.

#### Context and integration capabilities

The manufacturer lists a 1,050,000-token context window and a maximum output of 128,000 tokens. Organize long material around the current question and reserve room for the answer. Preserve decisions needed for the next step while removing unrelated repetition from the working brief.

OpenAI also documents streaming and, in its tool-enabled environment, web search, file search, image generation, code interpretation, shell work, patch application, computer use and MCP tools. Those capabilities depend on the environment and tools attached to the request. Select the operations needed for the task and inspect their actual observations or artifacts. The model’s direct output is text; an image or changed file is the result of the corresponding tool operation.

Keep each completed item with its input identifier and final result. For a repeated workflow, review difficult examples from the actual input set and preserve consistent category or field definitions so results remain comparable.

Practical task

### Extract a support follow-up record

Technical example in English

```
Extract a support follow-up record
Extract a follow-up record from this message: 'I am Noor, order N48. The blue mug arrived chipped yesterday. A replacement would be fine; mornings are best for contact.' Return customer name, order ID, item, reported problem, requested resolution and contact preference. Mark any delivery address or phone number as not supplied.
```

#### Expected result

```
A compact named-field record preserving source wording and marking absent contact details.
```

#### Check the result

```
Check that the requested replacement is recorded without claiming one was already dispatched.
```

Ailoot reserves an estimated amount before a request. After the result, it settles the final charge from measured usage. Streaming settlement uses the final usage record. [How reservation and settlement work →](https://ailoot.ai/docs/en/billing/reserve/)

Rates in USD per 1K tokens. If no rate is set, the base rate for this method is inherited; «—» means no base rate is set.

Ailoot reserves an estimated amount before a request. After the result, it settles the final charge from measured usage. Streaming settlement uses the final usage record. [How reservation and settlement work →](https://ailoot.ai/docs/en/billing/reserve/)

#### Reference tariff details

Model-level reference schedules do not change method selection, quotes or charges. Active charges use the selected Ailoot method rates.
