## [Morph: Morph V3 Fast](https://ailoot.ai/models/en/morph-morph-v3-fast/)

Morph V3 Fast is Morph’s responsive code-merge model for applying focused edits to an existing file. Supply the complete source and an update with explicit “existing code” markers; the result is a full merged file that the application can inspect and apply.

About the model

This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.

Morph V3 Fast is Morph’s specialised Fast Apply model for responsive code-edit merging. It takes an original file and a compact update snippet and returns the complete merged code. The model’s role is applying the proposed change in the file context, while a separate planning step or user instruction defines what the change should accomplish.

#### Prepare the original and update

The maker’s input format separates the complete original file in a code section, the edit snippet in an update section and an optional instruction describing the change. Give the model the actual current source rather than a stale excerpt. The update should show the changed lines and explicitly preserve any surrounding sections that remain.

For a focused edit, an illustrative request can add a return type or an error-handling branch while retaining the original computation. The expected output is the whole resulting file, with the change incorporated and the original unchanged portions intact. A generated merged file is the artifact to inspect; it has not independently been saved or executed.

#### Preservation markers matter

Morph’s producer convention uses the literal “// ... existing code ...” marker to mean that the corresponding original content should remain. Omitting that marker means the section is to be deleted. Use markers for the remainder of a function or file when an update changes only part of it. This is meaningful editing syntax, not a placeholder for the final merged output.

Specify the purpose of the edit and identify required names or behaviour that must survive. For repeated functions or nested code, make the changed region clear in the snippet. Keep intentional deletion distinct from an update that simply omitted unrelated context.

#### Fast and Large

The maker positions V3 Fast for consistent responsiveness in an interactive editing loop and V3 Large for more complex multi-scope refactors. Both are specialised apply models rather than general chat, repository search or compaction tools. The full-file merge approach interprets the update semantically instead of relying solely on a string match.

The documented Fast profile has a 262K context and works across major programming languages. Its generated output may be streamed for progress display, but the application should accumulate the complete file and compare it with the original before applying it. The original, update and final code all need space in the applicable request budget.

#### Check the merged artifact

Review that each requested change is present and each explicitly preserved section remains. For a behaviour change, use the actual development environment to obtain validation observations. If the file changed after the update was prepared, reconcile that current source before accepting the merge.

Morph identifies ambiguous or conflicting snippets as common causes of failure and notes that the result can still contain a best-effort merge. Diagnose the exact difference, clarify the instruction or update and compare the result with the same original source. The useful output is complete code with a focused, reviewable change; its application and correctness depend on the surrounding workflow’s inspection and execution.

Practical task

### Merge an empty-name greeting edit

Technical example in English

```
Merge an empty-name greeting edit
Merge the update into the original and return the complete JavaScript file. Original:
export function greet(name) { return 'Hello, ' + name + '!'; }
export const version = 1;
Update:
export function greet(name) {
  if (!name.trim()) return 'Hello, guest!';
  // ... existing code ...
}
// ... existing code ...
Preserve the nonempty-name greeting and version export.
```

#### Expected result

```
The complete merged JavaScript file, with the empty-name guard and preserved original sections.
```

#### Check the result

```
The final file must contain actual preserved code rather than the existing-code markers.
```
