## [Morph: Morph V3 Large](https://ailoot.ai/models/en/morph-morph-v3-large/)

Morph V3 Large is a specialised code-merge model for complex edits and multi-scope refactors. It takes the complete original file and an edit snippet with preservation markers, returning the full merged code while retaining sections the update explicitly keeps.

About the model

This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.

Morph V3 Large is Morph’s specialised Fast Apply model for code merging, with the larger variant positioned for trickier edits and complex multi-scope refactors. Its task is bounded: combine the complete original file with a proposed update and return the full merged file. It is an editing layer for an application or coding agent, separate from a general planning or code-search model.

#### Inputs and expected output

The producer format has three tagged parts. The code part contains the full original file. The update part contains the edit snippet, including markers for sections to preserve. An optional instruction explains the intended change. Keeping the original and update distinct lets the model interpret an edit in relation to the file that actually exists.

A practical assignment can pair a function’s original implementation with a snippet adding validation or restructuring one block. The output should be the complete merged file: changed code in the intended location, retained code preserved, and no editing markers left as substitutes for the source. Compare that result against both the original behaviour and the requested change.

#### Preserve and delete deliberately

Morph’s native editing convention uses the literal marker “// ... existing code ...” for unchanged regions. The maker states that omitting a preservation marker tells the model to delete that section. This distinction is central to preparing a safe update: explicitly mark the remainder of a function or file when it should remain intact, and remove content deliberately when deletion is the intended change.

For a refactor affecting several scopes in one file, make each changed region and its surrounding preserved code unambiguous. Describe the interfaces or behaviour that should remain stable. A useful brief is: “Apply these changes to the current file, retain the marked unchanged sections and preserve the public signatures.” The model merges that update; the application decides whether and where to write the result.

#### Large’s workload role

The maker recommends V3 Large when an edit’s complexity and merge fidelity matter more than the Fast variant’s responsiveness. Its full-file approach is designed for repeated code structures, nested blocks and overlapping edit regions where a literal search-and-replace operation may be ambiguous. This remains a code-merge task, not a guarantee that the proposed update itself is logically correct.

The producer catalogue lists a 262K context for V3 Large. Budget the original file, update, instruction and merged output together. Large input capacity does not remove the need to supply the correct current file; an update based on an older version can conflict with changes already present.

#### Review and application

The documented Fast Apply workflow supports streaming of the generated result. Whether returned as a complete response or accumulated from chunks, retain the full merged artifact before reviewing or applying it. Check that the intended edit is present, preserved sections remain intact and unrelated code has not disappeared.

The maker notes that ambiguous or conflicting updates can yield a best-effort merge rather than the intended change. Refine the instruction or snippet around the specific mismatch and compare the new result with the same current original. Compilation, behaviour checks and writing the file belong to the surrounding application. The useful deliverable is complete merged code whose change can be reviewed against the original and update.

Practical task

### Merge a trimming change

Technical example in English

```
Merge a trimming change
<instruction>Trim names inside normalize; preserve label unchanged. Return the complete merged JavaScript file.</instruction>
<code>export function normalize(name) { return name; }
export function label(name) { return normalize(name).toUpperCase(); }</code>
<update>export function normalize(name) { return name.trim(); }
// ... existing code ...</update>
```

#### Expected result

```
The complete merged JavaScript file containing both exported functions and no preservation-marker placeholder.
```

#### Check the result

```
Compare both functions against the original and update; verify only normalize changes.
```
