About the model

This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.

Sonar Pro Search is Perplexity’s Pro Search mode for Sonar Pro, designed to answer questions that require several information-gathering steps. It can run repeated web searches, retrieve page content and combine what it finds into a researched response. The mode is distinct from the quicker search path and from the separately named Sonar Deep Research model.

The producer describes automated orchestration of web search and page retrieval. Instead of leaving the user to turn each search result into the next query, the search process can pursue the intermediate questions needed for the answer. Its documented configuration offers pro, fast and automatic search choices; the automatic choice classifies the query by complexity. These are producer search settings rather than names for three different fixed checkpoints.

Perplexity’s published Pro Search workflow requires streaming and exposes the reasoning process while the search develops. A client receiving that producer stream needs to keep the sequence of progress and answer content in order. The finished research answer is the useful artifact; a progress update alone is not the completed explanation or comparison requested by the user.

Prepare the question with the entity, location, period and decision criteria that matter. For example, a technology comparison can ask which documented capabilities satisfy a specified integration requirement, which conditions differ between the candidates and what evidence supports the distinction. An effective result has the comparison, the supporting source material and the unresolved questions that still affect the choice.

For a question with several dependencies, state the final objective and the constraints together. A project investigation might need to identify the relevant product documentation, compare two implementation approaches and explain which published limitations apply. Ask for the findings to be organized by the requirement they answer, so that a reader can trace the conclusion back to the evidence used for it.

Review the returned research as an evidence-based answer: distinguish a source’s explicit statement from the model’s inference, and keep conflicting or incomplete information visible. The model’s role here is search and synthesis. Changes to an external system or execution of a proposed implementation remain actions for the surrounding application.

Practical task

### Synthesize a multi-source integration comparison

Technical example in English

```
Synthesize a multi-source integration comparison
Use these supplied documentation excerpts to compare storage choices. DOC-A: Product A supports daily snapshots and restore of an entire project. DOC-B: Product B supports hourly snapshots and restore of individual records. Our requirement is hourly recovery of one accidentally deleted record. Identify the relevant capabilities, recommend the better-documented fit and list unresolved retention and access questions.
```

#### Expected result

```
A requirement-led comparison citing DOC-A and DOC-B, a recommendation and explicit gaps in the supplied evidence.
```

#### Check the result

```
The answer links both snapshot frequency and restore granularity to the requirement and does not invent retention limits.
```
