## [Perplexity: Sonar Pro](https://ailoot.ai/models/en/perplexity-sonar-pro/)

Perplexity’s Sonar Pro answers research questions using web information and source-backed synthesis. It is aimed at everyday research and more involved lookups, with follow-up questions that refine the investigation.

About the model

This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.

Sonar Pro is Perplexity’s advanced Sonar selection for research questions and lookups that need current information. The manufacturer describes it as a fit for everyday research and light multi-step investigation. It produces a textual answer grounded in the information gathered for the question, while remaining distinct from Pro Search mode and Sonar Deep Research.

Prepare an assignment around the decision the research should inform. Name the organization, product or subject precisely and state the period, location and comparison criteria. For a product investigation, ask for the documented capability, the conditions that affect its use and the evidence supporting each finding. The output can become a comparison note, a requirements check or a concise briefing.

When several sources describe the same subject, ask the model to compare their statements instead of collapsing them into a single unsupported conclusion. Identify which source is the original specification or announcement, which is an interpretation and whether the statements apply to the same edition. A result organized by claim and supporting evidence is easier to inspect and update than a general overview.

Follow-up questions can narrow the investigation to an unresolved condition. For example, after a feature comparison, ask which requirement changes the choice or which exception is relevant to a particular workflow. Include the earlier findings and the new constraint so the model has the context for the next answer. A short, well-defined follow-up can make the research more useful than repeating the original broad question.

The Sonar family combines answer generation with web search. The producer’s documented Sonar response separates the answer from citations and search-result information. Preserve those relationships when an application presents the research: the passage a reader sees should remain connected to the supporting result, with the source description available for inspection.

For a final briefing, request the answer, the evidence for its important claims and a short list of remaining uncertainties. If the question requires a change in another system, use the research to prepare that decision; any execution or access to private information is supplied by the surrounding application.

Practical task

### Research a spreadsheet export constraint

Technical example in English

```
Research a spreadsheet export constraint
Research the current official CSV export guidance for Microsoft Excel and LibreOffice Calc. Compare how each handles multiple sheets and the choice of text encoding. Prefer product documentation, keep each claim attached to its source, and note any version-specific uncertainty. Finish with two questions a user should answer before exporting a workbook for a supplier.
```

#### Expected result

```
A short source-backed comparison, explicit version conditions and two practical pre-export questions.
```

#### Check the result

```
Inspect that each important claim has a relevant official source and that CSV is not described as preserving an entire multi-sheet workbook.
```
