Qwen-Math-Turbo is Alibaba’s specialised text model for mathematical problem solving. It produces step-by-step solutions from a written problem, with LaTeX notation and a boxed final result that can be extracted and reviewed.

About the model

This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.

Qwen-Math-Turbo is Alibaba’s specialised language model for mathematical problem solving. It accepts a written statement and returns a textual solution, with detailed steps intended to make the reasoning and the result verifiable. It is useful when the deliverable needs to show a method, intermediate transformations and an explicit answer rather than only a final number.

The manufacturer’s example starts with the general quadratic equation, asking for a universal solution rather than one numerical substitution. Use the same preparation principle for your own problem: define variables, include all constraints and say what constitutes the answer. An illustrative brief is: “Solve $Ax^2+Bx+C=0$ for real $x$, state the assumptions on $A$ and explain how the discriminant changes the number of real solutions.” Domain conditions belong in the problem statement, not in an unstated assumption.

Alibaba recommends writing the mathematical problem in English and using LaTeX for symbols and formulas. Preserve fractions, exponents, subscripts, inequality signs and parentheses carefully. If you want a worked example after a general derivation, provide its values in a separate sentence and ask the model to substitute them only after deriving the formula. For tutoring, state the reader’s level and request an explanation of each transformation; for checking a draft solution, include the draft and identify the disputed step.

Qwen-Math places the final result inside a \\boxed{} block by default. This makes the final expression identifiable within a longer explanation. A requested output can contain the assumptions, the derivation, the boxed result and a substitution check. For instance, after solving an equation, ask for the proposed roots to be substituted back into the original equation. That is a review instruction for the generated solution, not a promise that every generated result is correct.

The official mathematics guide also documents prefix continuation, called Partial mode, for keeping output aligned with a supplied beginning. It recommends retaining the default temperature of 0 rather than changing it. These are producer-side controls for the mathematical text workflow: a prefix can set the beginning of the solution, while the rest of the prompt should still give the complete problem and the desired final form.

This model does not recognise images. For a problem photographed from a book or written on a board, first transcribe or extract its text with a visual model and check the notation before sending it for mathematical solving. Include any diagram relationships as written constraints. The resulting Qwen-Math-Turbo output can then serve as a worked solution, a teaching explanation or a draft derivation whose assumptions and steps you can inspect.

Practical task

### Derive and check quadratic roots

Technical example in English

```
Derive and check quadratic roots
Solve ax^2 + bx + c = 0 for real x, assuming a is not zero. Derive the formula by completing the square, explain how the discriminant determines the number of real solutions and then check the roots for a=2, b=-5, c=2 by substitution. Put the final roots in a boxed expression.
```

#### Expected result

```
A derivation with assumptions, discriminant cases, a worked substitution and a boxed final result.
```

#### Check the result

```
Check that division by a is justified and that both numerical roots satisfy the original equation.
```
