## [Sakana: Fugu Max](https://ailoot.ai/models/en/sakana-fugu-max/)

Sakana AI’s Fugu Max is a learned orchestration model that selects efficient combinations from a large pool of open and specialized models. It turns a task into coordinated work and a synthesized result, with a different emphasis from Fugu Ultra.

About the model

This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.

Fugu Max is Sakana AI’s Fugu selection designed around efficient combinations of expert models. The manufacturer expands the pool of open and specialized models and trains the system to choose suitable machinery for the task. This selection shares the core orchestration approach with Fugu Ultra v2, while emphasizing how the participating models are combined for the work.

Fugu behaves as a single model from the application’s perspective. Internally, the coordinator determines whether a task can be handled directly or should be delegated, then organizes the contributions and produces a final answer. Selection, delegation, verification and synthesis are parts of that manufacturer system rather than separate agents the user must manually assign in the prompt.

For Max, the producer fixes the participating pool so that the coordinator can optimize its combinations. It does not expose the same individual model opt-out arrangement described for the standard Fugu selection. Keep that distinction when choosing the model: a large expert pool and a user-configurable pool are different characteristics.

Prepare a task with a specific objective and the information needed to assess the result. For a code review, include the source, the expected behavior and the issue to investigate. Request findings tied to the relevant implementation and a proposed check for each material issue. For a technical comparison, define the common criteria and ask the answer to explain which evidence changes the choice.

A multi-step assignment benefits from an explicit final artifact. For example, ask for a change proposal, a research note or a structured analysis with the findings separated from unresolved questions. If the surrounding application runs tools, return their actual observations before the next decision. That helps the workflow continue from what happened, rather than treating a suggested action as a completed one.

Sakana distinguishes Max’s optimization objective from Ultra’s emphasis on maximum answer depth. Use that producer distinction to match the task to a model selection, while evaluating the returned artifact against the original objective. The orchestration system assembles the response; the application establishes the actual outcome of any external action and decides how to use the result.

Practical task

### Review a stock decrement function

Technical example in English

```
Review a stock decrement function
Review this Python function: def take(stock, qty): stock["units"] -= qty; return stock["units"]. Requirements: qty must be positive and cannot exceed available units; a rejected request must leave stock unchanged. Identify material issues and propose a focused patch with a check for each, preserving the take function name.
```

#### Expected result

```
Behavior-linked review findings, a focused patch and checks for accepted and rejected decrements.
```

#### Check the result

```
Check that validation occurs before mutation and a rejected overdraw leaves the original stock unchanged.
```
