## [GLM Z1 32B 0414](https://ailoot.ai/models/en/thudm-glm-z1-32b-0414/)

GLM-Z1-32B-0414 is Z.ai’s fixed text-reasoning edition for mathematics, programming and logic. Its maker supplies explicit guidance for thinking, dialogue history, sampling and optional long-context scaling, so complex tasks can be prepared for this particular release.

About the model

This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.

#### Introduction

GLM-Z1-32B-0414 is the reasoning-focused member of Z.ai’s GLM-4-0414 series. It is developed from GLM-4-32B-0414 through cold-start preparation and extended reinforcement learning, with further work on mathematics, code and logic. Pairwise-ranking feedback is also used to strengthen general capabilities. The input is text, and the visible result is a text solution, explanation or program fragment.

Its purpose is a task that needs connected intermediate conclusions rather than an immediate sentence. Supply all assumptions and define the required endpoint: derive a formula, explain an algorithm, justify a bound or prepare a code change. The maker’s mathematical example concerns positive variables linked by an equation and the possible range of their sum. A useful response should identify the conditions, show the relevant transitions and clearly separate the final result.

GLM-Z1-Rumination-32B-0414 is a separate edition for more open-ended research with search tools; GLM-Z1-9B-0414 is another size. This entry preserves the named Z1 32B release instead of importing those editions’ extra workflow or size characteristics.

#### Usage guidelines: sampling

The manufacturer recommends temperature 0.6, top\_p 0.95 and top\_k 40. It also recommends a max\_new\_tokens budget of 30,000 to leave room for thinking. These are recommended generation settings, not a guarantee that every answer needs that length or a documented universal hard output ceiling. The card’s separate inference example uses a smaller request-specific generation budget.

For a reasoning task, allow enough room for the analysis and the final answer together, and define the final answer’s form in the prompt. A mathematical question can request the range or value separately from the explanation; a coding question can request one implementation followed by the assumptions that matter to it. Keep the requested result specific enough to check against the supplied conditions.

#### Usage guidelines: thinking and dialogue history

The maker’s template starts the generation with the thinking marker `<think>`. Its published chat template injects this marker, so an implementation should use the release’s actual template rather than assuming an unrelated dialogue format.

For subsequent turns, the usage guide retains the final user-visible reply and removes the internal thinking material from saved dialogue history. This is a preparation rule for the model’s own conversation template. A follow-up should contain the current question, necessary source material and relevant previous answer, not an unfiltered accumulation of all earlier internal analysis.

#### Usage guidelines: long context

The published configuration sets max\_position\_embeddings to 32,768 and does not include a rope\_scaling entry. The usage guide recommends considering YaRN when input exceeds 8,192 tokens. Its example scaling configuration uses factor 4.0 with original\_max\_position\_embeddings set to 32,768. The recommendation threshold, the base configuration and the optional extension are different facts; they are not interchangeable response limits.

Static YaRN affects all text and may slightly reduce performance on short inputs, so the manufacturer recommends enabling it when needed. For long material, provide the relevant definitions and passages in a clearly separated input and leave a suitable generation budget in the active context. The configuration should follow the selected deployment’s support for the maker’s scaling procedure rather than treating an arithmetic multiple as an automatically available context window.

#### Preparing the final result

The model’s inference example uses a user question and the release-specific chat template. For mathematics, preserve variable definitions and state the proposition to establish. For code, provide the relevant fragment, its required behavior and the case under discussion. Ask for a distinct final artifact—proof, formula, implementation or explanation—so the reasoning can be evaluated through the task’s result. The dedicated Z1 guide specifies text reasoning and its preparation; it does not establish an additional native tool contract or image input for this edition.

Practical task

### Derive a safe batch bound

Technical example in English

```
Derive a safe batch bound
A buffer holds at most 96 records. Every batch adds b records, where b is a positive integer, and 12 records must remain free. Derive the largest number of complete batches that fit as a formula in b. Explain the rounding and calculate the result for b = 10, keeping the reserved space separate from usable capacity.
```

#### Expected result

```
A formula using a floor, an explanation of usable capacity and a checked numeric example.
```

#### Check the result

```
Verify the formula reserves 12 records and a further full batch would exceed usable capacity in the example.
```

Keep every complete returned response, file and content part.

Keep all content blocks, thinking signatures and actual tool-use IDs. Assemble all SSE block deltas; a first text block is not the complete output.

##### If the original response needs checking

Keep request/response IDs and headers. No generic text job retrieval URL is supplied.
