ByteDance: Seedance 2.5
Seedance 2.5 creates audio and video together for longer scenes, rich image/video/audio references and targeted edits. ByteDance Seed documents up to 30-second generation, clay-render guidance, controlled camera work and continuation of existing footage.
About the model
This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.
Seedance 2.5 is ByteDance Seed’s audio-video joint-generation model. It builds on Seedance 2.0 with longer storytelling, richer multimodal references and more precise editing. A text brief can define a scene, while images, video and audio communicate appearance, movement, camera language and sound. The result is audiovisual footage for a film concept, product story, music video, previsualisation or short narrative.
A complete scene in one generation The producer extends the single-pass generation ceiling from the earlier 15 seconds to up to 30 seconds. That gives a brief room for a setup, development and conclusion, with several connected shots or a continuous camera move. Its stage-performance example follows a singer from a dressing room through a corridor and onto the stage, rather than showing only the arrival. Describe the sequence of actions and the camera’s route in their intended order. For a product story, plan the reveal, demonstration and closing composition so that each beat contributes something visible.
Continuing existing footage Seedance 2.5 can extend a clip forwards or backwards, using the established characters, environment, motion and camera direction as continuity cues. A forward continuation describes what happens after the final moment; a backward continuation describes the lead-in to the opening. Supply the existing footage and explain the new action, setting change or camera move. Review the join as well as the new segment, including subject appearance, sound and the direction of movement. The manufacturer’s launch discusses repeated extension, while its model page describes two extension steps; the usable extension budget belongs to the specific workflow rather than a universal unlimited-video promise.
Image, video and audio references The announced reference budget is up to 50 assets in one generation: 30 images, 10 video clips and 10 audio clips. Images can establish characters, products, locations, props or style. Videos can communicate performance, pacing and camera movement. Audio can supply dialogue, music, atmosphere or rhythm. Assign each asset a clear role: one reference for the subject, another for the environment, a video for the camera move and an audio clip for timing. These materials guide interpretation; they do not guarantee that every detail is reproduced exactly.
Clay-render guidance and performance blocking A textureless 3D scene can define spatial layout, poses, movement paths and camera angles before the final appearance is rendered. The producer demonstrates using this clay-render structure together with a separate image for character design, materials, colour and atmosphere. This is useful for an animation or assembly visual whose staging matters more than a loose style reference. State which source controls the blocking and which controls the look. The model also uses spatial cues to guide light direction, colour temperature, intensity and shadow placement.
Timestamp edits and camera control Seedance 2.5 supports targeting a time span during generation and revising characters, actions or story elements in an existing clip. Timestamp-based editing can target both audio and visual content; identify the time interval and the element to revise. The manufacturer demonstrates green-screen background replacement, reference-based edits and changing the camera movement while retaining the scene’s action and style. An edit brief should identify the source clip, the interval, the element to change and the continuity to preserve. For example, describe a lighting or background change over one segment instead of asking to redesign the entire film. After the edit, inspect the moments before and after the interval as well as the revised content.
Audiovisual output and multilingual creation The producer’s product specification describes 4–30-second generation at 480p, 720p or 1080p, 24 FPS, with MP4 or MOV output. Its official introduction describes native support for more than 10 languages and dialogue-led creation. These are manufacturer capabilities and format choices; they do not define an Ailoot file-input, duration or output-format contract. For dialogue-led work, specify the intended speech and its relationship to the action, then have a fluent speaker review the wording and pronunciation before using a localised version.
Applications and substantive limits The model is useful for campaign concepts, product showcases, character-led stories and realistic previews from reference footage or simple 3D staging. The manufacturer also demonstrates educational explanations and manufacturing or assembly visuals. Generated instructional or simulated footage still needs review against the real process being illustrated. The release explicitly identifies complex-motion physics and stable interactions among multiple subjects as areas for further improvement. Check contact between hands and objects, group interactions, movement paths, character consistency and sound-to-image timing across the entire clip. A strong opening frame does not establish that the complete sequence follows the brief.

Response400 · invalid_request_error | ConditionThe request could not be read, or the download index is invalid. | Next stepCorrect the request body. For a download, choose an output index returned by the original task. |
Response422 · price_unavailable | ConditionThe selected video configuration cannot be priced. | Next stepChoose a supported video configuration and complete its required options before submitting a corrected request. |
Response422 · invalid_request_error | ConditionA video input or original continuation task is invalid. | Next stepUse valid HTTPS inputs. For continuation, use your completed original public video ID with the same API key. |
Response402 · billing_error | ConditionThe available balance or limits do not allow a reservation. | Next stepCheck your available balance and limits before sending a new request. |
Response503 · server_error | ConditionVideo verification, storage or service access is temporarily unavailable. | Next stepWait for service availability. If you already have a video ID, check that original task instead of creating another generation. |
Response503 · result_pending_check | ConditionThe original video result and charge need checking. | Next stepKeep the returned video ID and check that task. Do not send a replacement generation request while it is being checked. |
Response503 · owned_result_unavailable | ConditionThe existing video download is temporarily unavailable. | Next stepCheck the same video task later and download its existing output. A new generation creates a separate operation. |
Response409 · video_not_ready | ConditionThe video content has not been published. | Next stepCheck the original task status. Download after it reports completed; if it reports failed, follow its charge-check notice. |
