About the model
This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.
DeepSeek R1 Distill Llama 70B is a distinct reasoning model built on Llama 3.3 70B Instruct. DeepSeek fine-tunes the foundation model with reasoning examples generated by DeepSeek R1, transferring patterns for solving mathematical, programming and logical problems into a dense Llama model. It accepts text and produces a text response containing the requested analysis, code or conclusion.
Distillation. This is a prepared model checkpoint, rather than a mode that activates the full R1 model. The manufacturer releases several distilled models based on Llama and Qwen foundations. The 70B Llama edition uses Llama 3.3 Instruct; the 8B Llama edition starts from Llama 3.1 Base. Their different foundations and sizes matter when selecting the exact edition. DeepSeek also adjusts the configurations and tokenizers of the distilled releases, so the published model preparation should stay with the named checkpoint.
Reasoning work. For a mathematical task, provide the full statement, definitions and assumptions, and specify whether the result should be a proof, a calculation or a counterexample. Ask for a clear derivation and a final answer that is easy to find. For an algorithm question, state the input constraints and desired output, then ask for the approach, its implementation and cases that test the assumptions. The useful artifact is a solution whose important steps can be inspected, rather than only a plausible final value.
Generation recommendations. DeepSeek recommends putting all instructions in the user message instead of adding a separate system prompt. For its reasoning series, the documented temperature range is 0.5–0.7, with 0.6 recommended to reduce repetition and incoherent output. Mathematical prompts are encouraged to request a stepwise solution and put the final result in mathematical box notation. For cases where the intended reasoning pattern is skipped, DeepSeek recommends enforcing the response prefix <think>\n in a compatible generation setup. These are recommendations for a compatible generation setup and do not establish a separate execution tool.
For coding assistance, include the relevant function, the reported failure, the expected behaviour and a representative input. Ask for a minimal proposed edit with an explanation and a test case that would expose the original problem. If the question concerns several modules, retain their names and describe the interface between them. The model can then reason about the supplied relationships and return a patch proposal or a focused explanation for review.
For technical analysis, separate given facts from alternatives under consideration. You can ask the model to compare two algorithms, explain why a condition is necessary or find an input that contradicts a proposed rule. Request the decisive argument first and make any assumptions explicit. Check important calculations independently and run generated code in the intended environment; the answer itself is a text artifact. When comparing model behaviour, use several representative problems rather than treating one response as a complete assessment.
Practical task
Test an allocation rule
Technical example in English
Test an allocation rule
A workshop must assign 17 identical kits to four teams. Each team needs at least three kits, and Team A must receive an odd number. Find the allocation that minimizes the largest team allocation. Show a short verifiable argument that a smaller maximum is impossible, then give one valid allocation.Expected result
An explicit allocation, its maximum and a concise optimality argument.Check the result
The allocation must sum to 17, satisfy the minimum and oddness rules, and include a lower-bound argument.Ailoot Ultra · OpenAI Chat POST /v1/chat/completions deepseek/deepseek-r1-distill-llama-70b
