About the model
This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.
GPT-3.5 Turbo Instruct is OpenAI’s text model for instruction-and-completion tasks. The maker describes capabilities similar to GPT-3-era models and compatibility with the legacy Completions interface, rather than the chat-message interface. It receives a prompt and produces text that follows or continues it.
For a rewrite, include the original passage and state what should change: the tone, length, order of information or intended reader. An illustrative task is turning a rough procedure description into a short instruction while preserving the required steps and definitions. For new text, provide the facts and the exact artifact needed. A code request can include the relevant fragment and the behavior to explain or implement.
The producer lists a 4,096-token context window and a maximum output of 4,096 tokens, with a knowledge cutoff of September 1, 2021. The prompt and generated text share the available context, so the nominal output maximum is not a promise that every request has that much room. Keep the source material focused and specify a result that fits the task’s budget.
Prepare the prompt with clear sections for the instruction, any example and the material to process. The direct completion workflow operates on that supplied prompt; include the relevant earlier facts again when the next request depends on them. Define how a missing fact should be represented rather than asking for an unsupported detail to be invented.
A useful result is a completed passage, concise explanation or proposed code fragment that can be compared with the original conditions. For a follow-up, supply the current version and the specific change needed. The instruction-and-completion identity is retained separately from GPT-3.5 Turbo’s chat variants.
Practical task
Rewrite a rough procedure
Technical example in English
Rewrite a rough procedure
Turn this rough note into three numbered instructions for a warehouse clerk: “scan item first, then check location matches label, mismatch means stop and ask supervisor, matching means shelf it.” Preserve the stop condition and order of operations. Use plain imperative language and add no steps or equipment absent from the note.Expected result
Three numbered imperative instructions with a clear mismatch branch before shelving.Check the result
Check that shelving occurs only after a matching location check and that the supervisor is contacted on mismatch.Ailoot Ultra · OpenAI Chat POST /v1/chat/completions gpt-3.5-turbo-instruct

Keep all completed results
Keep every complete returned response, file and content part.
Keep every choice and its content/tool calls/reasoning. In SSE assemble deltas by choice/tool index, retain the final finish reason and usage.
If the original response needs checking
Keep request/response IDs and headers. No generic text job retrieval URL is supplied.
