About the model
This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.
o3-mini (High) denotes OpenAI’s o3-mini with high reasoning effort. The base model is a smaller o-series reasoning model focused on STEM tasks, including science, mathematics and coding. It accepts and returns text. High identifies the reasoning setting, preserving the base o3-mini identity rather than creating a new standalone set of model weights.
For a technical problem, provide the complete statement, definitions and conditions that determine a valid answer. An illustrative task is examining an algorithm under several input cases, explaining the relationship between the cases and proposing a solution that respects the stated constraints. For mathematics, specify the variable domains, required result and notation or precision needed in the final answer.
The maker documents low, medium and high reasoning effort for o3-mini. The High variant allocates more analysis to the question and can take longer to return a result. This is separate from answer length: a task can request a concise conclusion even when the underlying question needs fuller reasoning. Give the model a clear goal, strong constraints and the evidence needed to assess its conclusion.
OpenAI’s specification lists a 200,000-token context window, a maximum output of 100,000 tokens and a knowledge cutoff of October 1, 2023. This is a text-only input model and does not support vision. If a problem originates in a diagram or screenshot, supply the relevant information as written conditions. Leave room for reasoning and the requested visible result within the available context.
The producer lists Responses, Chat Completions, Assistants and Batch interfaces, streaming, Structured Outputs, function calling and file inputs/search. The release also documents developer messages for instructions and context. Its model-card tool set includes functions, file search, code interpretation, MCP connections and image-generation tooling. Those tool operations are separate from the model’s text input and output; the application executes its actions and returns actual results.
Define the final artifact and how it should be checked. Request a proposed implementation, formula, comparison or structured result that identifies the conditions supporting it. For a follow-up, provide the new evidence and name the part of the solution that needs revision. A useful final answer connects the conclusion to the original problem and keeps a completed calculation or tool operation distinct from one still proposed.
Practical task
Check an algorithm on boundary cases
Technical example in English
Check an algorithm on boundary cases
A binary-search function starts with lo=0 and hi=len(items), then reads items[mid] while lo <= hi. Analyze the boundary error for an empty sorted list and for a target above all elements. Propose a consistent inclusive-bound version in Python and tests for empty, singleton, found and missing cases. Return a concise explanation with code.Expected result
A boundary-error explanation, corrected binary search and tests covering the named cases.Check the result
The code never indexes an empty list or index len(items), and every loop iteration shrinks the search interval.Ailoot Ultra · OpenAI Chat POST /v1/chat/completions openai/o3-mini-high
