About the model
This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.
Qwen2.5 72B Instruct is the large, instruction-tuned text model in Qwen’s general-purpose Qwen2.5 series. It produces written answers, code and structured text from instructions and conversation. Its capabilities span general knowledge, coding, mathematics, following detailed instructions and working with tables. It remains distinct from the Qwen2.5 base checkpoint and the separate Coder, Math and vision-language editions.
The model is a dense decoder-only Transformer with 72.7 billion total parameters, including 70 billion non-embedding parameters. Its published architecture has 80 layers and grouped-query attention with 64 query heads and eight key/value heads, alongside rotary position embeddings, SwiGLU and RMSNorm. The series’ pretraining data reaches up to 18 trillion tokens, followed by post-training for instruction-based use.
The exact model card reports a full context of 131,072 tokens and generation up to 8192 tokens. The published configuration starts at 32,768 positions; using the extended context requires the producer’s length-scaling setup. The card cautions that static scaling can affect shorter-text performance and recommends enabling it when long inputs are required. Those figures distinguish the full model capability from the default checkpoint configuration used for a particular deployment.
For long-document work, identify the sections to examine and the artifact to return: a comparison, an outline, a summary or a set of extracted facts. Keep the instructions, source text and requested answer within the available context. An extended report benefits from a section plan and explicit priorities so the output follows the assignment rather than spending its generation length on an unrelated introduction.
Structured-data understanding and JSON generation are prominent parts of the release. Supply the table headings, units and any missing-value conventions before requesting a transformation. For an extraction task, define the output fields and ask the model to distinguish values stated in the source from information that is absent. The application can then parse and check the result against its expected structure. Producing JSON does not by itself make a particular schema a guaranteed output contract.
Qwen documents tool-calling support through its conversation templates and compatible application integrations. Provide function descriptions and the information each function needs. The model prepares a proposed call; the application executes it and supplies the result for the next turn. A useful data task can retrieve a record, compare it with the user’s question and return a concise explanation tied to the retrieved fields. Execution and access to external systems are supplied by the surrounding application.
The producer describes support for more than 29 languages, including Chinese, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai and Arabic. System-prompt flexibility also supports setting a chatbot’s role and conditions. For code or mathematics, supply the relevant implementation or premises and request the answer together with the checks or intermediate steps needed to assess it. For multilingual output, state the target language and terminology to preserve so the result serves the intended audience.
Practical task
Transform a small stock table
Technical example in English
Transform a small stock table
Transform this table into a compact requested JSON array. Columns: sku, units, unit. Rows: A7 | 12 | boxes; B3 | blank | pieces; C9 | 0 | boxes. Preserve SKU spelling and units, convert stated counts to integers, and use null for a blank count. Return the array only; do not calculate totals across different units.Expected result
A three-object JSON-shaped array retaining sku, units and unit with numeric counts or null.Check the result
The blank count remains null, zero remains 0, and boxes are not added to pieces.Ailoot Ultra · OpenAI Chat POST /v1/chat/completions qwen/qwen-2.5-72b-instruct
