About the model
This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.
Fugu Ultra v2 is Sakana AI’s performance-focused edition of its learned model-orchestration system. It coordinates expert models for complex multi-step reasoning, research and full-stack software work. The producer specifically emphasizes sustained reasoning over visual and structured material in this edition. It is distinct from Fugu Max and from the earlier Fugu Ultra release.
The system uses a learned coordinator to select, delegate, verify and synthesize work within an expert pool. A request can involve several complementary contributions before the final answer is assembled. This orchestration is a manufacturer model capability; the application still supplies the task, relevant material and any external observations that its workflow needs.
The producer fixes the full agent pool for the Ultra selection, while the coordinator chooses how to use it for the task. This differs from assuming that the user can individually configure every participating model. Sakana also distinguishes Ultra’s emphasis on answer depth from Max’s focus on efficient combinations. Deeper coordination can take more response time, as the manufacturer’s comparison explains.
For a visual or data-analysis assignment, supply the chart, table or relevant observations and define the question to resolve. Ask for the finding, the evidence that supports it and the intermediate interpretation needed to assess it. A useful artifact can combine a concise conclusion with a structured account of the data rather than leaving the analysis as several disconnected observations.
For software work, identify the expected behavior, the relevant source and the result of the current checks. Request a focused change proposal with the conditions that will establish whether it works. In a connected workflow, return the actual execution result so the next step can address a concrete failure or retain a successful change. That creates a task around evidence and a finished artifact rather than an open-ended request to improve the code.
For a research investigation, define the scope and the final report structure. The report can separate established findings, competing interpretations and unresolved dependencies. Sakana’s v2 release states a training-information cutoff of August 28, 2026; external evidence supplied or retrieved for a task is separate from that training history. Keep the distinction clear when asking about information that changes over time.
Practical task
Compare competing explanations against data
Technical example in English
Compare competing explanations against data
Analyze this supplied table: week 1, 100 visits and 10 signups; week 2, 200 visits and 12 signups. Team hypothesis A says conversion improved; hypothesis B says traffic grew while conversion fell. Calculate the relevant rates, compare both interpretations and list one missing fact needed to investigate the cause.Expected result
Rate calculations, an evidence-based comparison of the hypotheses and one causal-information gap.Check the result
Check that signup counts and conversion rates are kept distinct and that no causal explanation is presented as established.Ailoot Ultra · OpenAI Chat POST /v1/chat/completions sakana/fugu-ultra-v2
