SpaceXAI: Grok 4.20 Multi-Agent

Grok 4.20 Multi-Agent coordinates parallel research agents and returns the leader’s synthesized answer. The producer documents four- and sixteen-agent configurations, text and image inputs, and a 1,000,000-token context.

About the model

This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.

Grok 4.20 Multi-Agent is the producer’s collaborative research variant. Several agents contribute perspectives and findings, while a leader synthesizes the result into the final answer. The model card specifies text and image inputs, text output and a 1,000,000-token context. This variant is distinct from the ordinary Grok 4.20 reasoning and non-reasoning selections.

The producer’s research workflow gathers information, cross-references findings and revises the investigation as intermediate evidence becomes available. Its documented configurations use four or sixteen agents. Low or medium effort selects four agents; high or xhigh selects sixteen. In this variant, effort selects the number of collaborators rather than the reasoning depth of a single agent.

The user-facing result contains the leader’s tool calls and final response. Sub-agent state is handled as encrypted context in the manufacturer’s workflow and is included only through the producer’s specified encrypted-content option. A final report therefore represents the leader’s synthesis rather than a transcript of every agent’s internal work.

The dedicated guide supports producer built-in tools and remote tool connections, while excluding custom client-side function tools for this variant. Without built-in tools, agents can collaborate using their knowledge and reasoning. The specific tools enabled in a task determine whether the workflow can search or execute code; the multi-agent name alone does not establish that those actions occurred.

Prepare a research brief with the dimensions to compare, the required evidence and the depth of the report. A focused question suits the smaller configuration, while a multi-faceted investigation can use the larger one in the producer’s setup. Ask for an organized result such as findings, supporting evidence and unresolved questions. Follow-ups can then narrow a condition or extend the investigation with the earlier context retained.

The dedicated manufacturer guide uses its Responses workflow and states that legacy Chat Completions and the max_tokens parameter are unsupported for this variant. The model-card capability flag for function calling is therefore narrower in the actual multi-agent guide. Preserve that integration distinction when preparing a task, and assess completion from the final artifact and evidence rather than the amount of parallel activity.

Practical task

Compare an evidence-limited rollout proposal

Technical example in English

Compare an evidence-limited rollout proposal

Prepare a research brief comparing these supplied findings. Team A measured a 15% reduction in processing time across 200 cases but did not track errors. Team B tracked 20 errors in 500 cases but recorded no baseline. Compare what each finding supports, identify the gap in a combined rollout claim and propose the next measurement. Do not gather external sources.

Expected result

A brief with findings, supporting evidence, unresolved questions and a proposed measurement plan.

Check the result

The conclusion does not infer an error improvement from a count without a baseline or transfer one team's result to another.
