About the model
This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.
BAAI/bge-large-zh-v1.5 is the Chinese edition of BAAI General Embedding v1.5. Choose it for a Chinese-language search index: for example, matching a customer question to the relevant return-policy paragraph. Its output is a numerical vector for similarity search, rather than a generated answer. The official model card identifies the Chinese language focus and describes v1.5 as improving the similarity distribution.
Ailoot accepts one text string or an array of strings at /v1/embeddings. Embed both your passages and queries with this exact edition and associate each data[].embedding with data[].index. For short-question-to-passage retrieval, BAAI recommends a retrieval instruction on the query; passages remain unprefixed. Similarity thresholds need calibration on your own material: a score is not a probability that a passage answers the question. See the BAAI model card for the query convention.
