grok-imagine-image-2.0

Grok Imagine Image 2.0 creates images from descriptions with selectable proportions, resolution and quality. The model itself also supports image editing and visual style transfer.

About the model

This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.

Generating and refining an image

Grok Imagine Image 2.0 receives a scene description and creates an image. The xAI model can also work with source visual material: applying changes through text instructions and continuing to edit using the previous result as a new input. Ailoot publishes a text-based generation method.

Visual styles

For Image 2.0, xAI describes realistic photography, anime, oil painting and pencil drawing. Style is specified in words; when working with a source image, the instruction defines the desired aesthetic. Sequential changes allow details to be added and the result refined step by step.

Proportions, size and quantity

  • n specifies 1 to 10 images from one description, with one as the default.
  • aspect_ratio selects frame shape; auto leaves the choice to the model.
  • resolution specifies 1K or 2K, with 1K as the standard value.

Square, landscape and portrait formats are provided: 1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 3:4, 3:2, 2:3, 2:1, 1:2. Elongated screen formats include 19.5:9, 9:19.5, 20:9, 9:20, alongside wide 21:9 and 5:2.

Selecting quality

Image 2.0 supports low, medium and auto. The parameter belongs specifically to this version; auto is used when quality is not specified. At the time of verification, automatic mode selects low for generation and medium for editing.

According to xAI, medium allocates more computation to detailed image development. Explicitly selecting low or medium fixes the required mode, whereas auto behavior is determined by the manufacturer's current setting.

Input and result

The model has text and visual inputs, and images as its result. In xAI's own editing mode, Image 2.0 accepts up to five source images; Ailoot's current generation method uses text input. A result can be delivered as a file through a link or in base64.

If the original response needs checking

If an image generation or edit result requires a check, keep the original operation_id/X-Client-Request-ID and returned result information. Recover existing owned results through the media library using actual task_id or asset_id values. Do not resubmit the generation/edit request or construct a polling URL from operation_id.
