OpenAI: GPT-5.5 Pro (batch)
The separate GPT-5.5 Pro edition uses additional computation for difficult reasoning and professional analysis. It accepts text and images and develops a text result through the producer’s Responses interface, including Batch requests.
About the model
This description covers the model’s capabilities. Available in Ailoot inputs, outputs and options are listed for the selected method below.
GPT-5.5 Pro is OpenAI’s separate Pro edition of GPT-5.5. It uses additional computation to work through difficult questions and develop a more thorough response. The model accepts text and images and produces text. Its identity as a named Pro model differs from selecting the Pro execution mode on a GPT-5.6 or GPT-6 base model.
The GPT-5.5 family release describes coding, research, data analysis and document-heavy professional work. It specifically describes Pro as a choice for demanding questions and more comprehensive, structured results. An illustrative task is to reconcile several project documents, identify the requirements that depend on one another and develop a recommendation whose conditions are explicit. For code, supply the intended behavior, the existing implementation and the constraints a proposed change must preserve.
OpenAI specifies a 1,050,000-token context window and a maximum output of 128,000 tokens for GPT-5.5 Pro, with a documented knowledge cutoff of December 1, 2025. Its reasoning-effort choices are medium, high and xhigh; high is the default. Reasoning uses token space alongside the visible answer. A long professional request should therefore include the relevant evidence and leave room for the model’s analysis and the final artifact.
The producer documents GPT-5.5 Pro for Responses requests, including through Batch, to support multi-turn model interactions before the response. Difficult requests can take several minutes. OpenAI recommends background execution for long-running work: the application receives a response identifier, tracks the request’s status and retrieves the completed result. Use this workflow to follow a long request through to its completed result.
The model card lists Structured Outputs, function calling, web and file search, image-generation tooling, image input and MCP support. Its tools also include a code interpreter and hosted shell. The application supplies the working environment and executes its operations, returning their actual results so the model can continue. A proposed program, a requested action and the result of an executed action should be treated as different artifacts when preparing the final response.
Give the model a clear question, the source material and a completion criterion. For a technical analysis, request the affected dependencies, the proposed approach and the evidence needed to check it. For a document decision, identify the comparison criteria and ask for the supplied facts, conclusion and unresolved conditions to remain distinguishable. If an image supplies essential evidence, point to the relevant detail. A useful final result is a specific decision memo, code proposal or analytical explanation tied to the materials and goal you provided.
